ABOUT US

We are a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, the Denver Diocese. Our Parish is under the spiritual direction of His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah the presiding Bishop the Diocese of Denver

We are pan-orthodox in membership, consisting of people of Greek, Russian, Serbian, Hispanic, Armenian as well as American backgrounds. A number of our members have converted from other Evangelical and Protestant backgrounds.

Our services are almost exclusively English. While we attempt to honor the customs of all our members, our liturgical practices follow those of the Greek tradition, particularly those of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

While our parish is small, we are very dedicated to the practice of our historical faith. We are warm and welcoming to those visiting with us, whether Orthodox or not.

Our Goals

We have two prime objectives in Lubbock. 1) First is to serve, to the Glory of God, those having chosen the ancient and historical faith of Orthodoxy as their own. 2) To serve those who are temporarily in Lubbock, whether studying at Texas Tech or one of our other local colleges or working in local businesses. We recognize an obligation to be of practical assistance to our local community and its needs while serving without modification to or variance from our traditional faith. We hold to the Dogmatic truths of Christ's original Church and do believe that there is a difference in theological truths as proclaimed by the many denominations existing today. We make no apologies to our brethren in Christ, but rather proclaim the one, true, comprehensive faith of our forefathers, established by the Apostles upon the unshakable teachings given to them by the Lord Himself.

We celebrate the Historic and Divine Liturgy each Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m. This Service is preceded by Matins (or Orthros, the morning prayers), which begins at 9:00 a.m. Weekday Liturgies are celebrated periodically on great feast days. click to view calendar . Those who visit will find that an Orthodox Priest wears lavish vestments when celebrating the services. They will also find candles being used regularly and incense used liberally in most all the services. Our Church is decorated with Icons of the Saints, of the Virgin Mary and Christ, Our Lord and Savior. These are all part of the long and rich heritage of the Ancient Christian Church.
